Everyone’s done it. You’ve hit snooze, forgotten that all important class, and then panicked as you realise you’ve overslept. If this happens to you, you’re not alone. 1. Kick the coffee to the curb

Yes, coffee has basically replaced the blood in your body at this point, but it has to go. It may keep you awake at 8am when you need to pay attention in class, but it's also keeping you awake at night. That means you go to bed later, don't get a good night's sleep, and then wake up late the next morning. It's time to wean yourself off coffee. While you're at it, stop drinking energy drinks and sugary drinks too. They're good in the moment, but the crash isn't worth it.

2. Overhaul your study patterns

If you're the kind of student who regularly pulls all nighters, it's time to stop. It seems like a good idea at the time, but it creates real problems with your sleep schedule. This means you'll find it harder to fall asleep at night, and inevitably wake up later in the morning.

If you're spending too long studying, find ways of keeping your sessions shorter. It's actually important that you keep study sessions shorter, as after a while you'll lose the ability to concentrate. 4. Get an alarm clock

Speaking of your phone, you need to stop using it as an alarm clock. Having it next to your bed means it's too tempting to start scrolling online, instead of going to sleep. Buy yourself an old fashioned alarm clock, and keep it across the room. There's no shutting that up without getting out of bed!

5. Don't spend too long on your assignments

If you have lots of assignments on the go, you'll want to stay up late to get them finished. It's admirable, but it can lead to burnout. It's time to get help with your assignments so you can get them done faster.

If you're having trouble getting to sleep, try using eye masks, ear plugs, or white noise machines to make your bedroom as soothing as possible.

7. Get a good night's sleep

This step may be easy for some of you, but near impossible for others. If you get a good night's sleep, it's much easier to get up in the morning. If your struggle to get to sleep, ensure that your room is dark and comfortable. If you need more help, it's worth seeing your doctor.
